About CZU

Set up as a public university in 1978, Changzhou University (CZU) is jointly funded by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and three biggest Chinese petrol corporations(CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC). It has also acquired generous support from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and the Municipal Government of Changzhou.

CZU has complete infrastructure and excellent facilities, having two campuses with an area of over 130 hectares. CZU is composed of 26 schools, with more than 29,000 full-time students, including over 600 international students. At present, CZU has 68 undergraduate programs, 2 First-level Discipline PhD programs, 15 First-level Discipline Master’s degree programs and 19 Professional Master’s degree programs. The programs cover a wide range of engineering and sciences, management and economics, law and literature, medicine, agriculture, art and education. After 46 years of development, CZU has built a complete talent training system covering Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs with a multi-level scientific research and social service system. In 2023, CZU is ranked 152nd on Best Chinese Universities Rankings (BCUR) released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy and 176th on the WuShulian Chinese University Ranking. Four disciplines (Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering and Environmental Ecology) are among world top 1% by the ESI.

CZU is very active in international cooperation and exchange and has established close relationships with more than 60 universities in over 30 countries and regions.  CZU hosts a National Center of Chinese Language Education by the State Council, and also operates the first and only Confucius Institute in Venezuela with UBV and the Confucius Classroom in Spain, which has grown into the largest one in Europe. CZU is one of the Target Universities in Jiangsu for International Students, as it has started to enroll international students since 2009. In the case of education, CZU has been authenticated by the Chinese Ministry of Education for international students and has been awarded five times by Jiangsu Department of Education for its excellence in the education of international students. Besides, there is HSK Test Center in Changzhou University. In recent years, the number of international students has been increasing rapidly.
